Not Home Yet...

isn't it strange that one day you feel so close to God, and then the next that you are so far away?

'My love is oft times low,
my joy still ebbs and lows,
but peace with God remains the same,
no change Jehovah knows.'

i'm so glad that God is the same yesterday today and forever, the same God who was soo amazingly loving and patience with the Israelites is soo amazingly loving and patience with me :) and boy how much do i need it. even when i'm centred on myself and He's not my number one, He still loves me and says come back Abi. And the more i am in step with God, the more i am amazed, bowled over why He should have EVER loved us and sent His son for us! if that doesn't seem totally amazing to you, then nothing will! A Christians cheif delight should be in God and His word, and if it isn't, then you have lost your first love. Who or what do you hide in?

'Now none but Christ can satisfy,
no other name for me,
theres peace, and life and lasting joy,
Lord Jesus found in Thee'

remember...

'on Christ the solid rock rock i stand,
ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND'

so stay on the rock =]

my brother made me post this...

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

A friend is someone who will catch you when you fall, dry your tears and tell you it will be all right, pretend to be happy just to cheer you up, never leave you by yourself, attempt to talk to you at least once a day no matter what, make you laugh when you're sad, call back if you hang up on them, make everything you two do together into something fun no matter how boring it is, always remind you of your inside jokes, finish your sentences, think the same way you do, follow you wherever you go, stop you from doing something stupid or hurting yourself, and they're always willing to give up something that means a lot to them because they can be sure you'll always be there in return, and because to them you'll always mean more than you can imagine.

A stranger stabs you in the front; a friend stabs you in the back; a boyfriend stabs you in the heart, but best friends only poke each other with straws.

A friend is someone who can see the truth and pain in you even when you are fooling everyone else.

"A true friend is someone who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face"

"If you're alone, I'll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile... But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me."

Everyone hears what you say. Friends listen to what you say. Best friends listen to what you don't say.

A true friend sees the first tear... catches the second... and stops the third

A true friend... -Accepts you as you are
-believes in you-calls you only to say "hello"
-doesn't give up with you
-admires all sides of your personality
-forgives your mistakes
-helps you-
encourages you to try it again
-makes a difference in your life
-says nice things about you
-offers his/her support
-understands you
-tells you the truth
-never judges you
-explains things you don't understand
-walks by your side
-calms down your fears
-shouts if necessary, if you don't want to listen
-raises you spirit.

A friend is not the one that will kill for you, but the one that will die for you

Anyone can make you smile or cryBut it takes someone special to make you smileWhen you already have tears in your eyes

Your friends are your release. They're who you have the most fun with, and yet when the going gets tough, those people turn around and suddenly they're not just making you laugh, they're being this rock and giving you all their advice. Even though you're so much your own person, if you dissect yourself, I guarantee you, your friends are in there. Their influence is incredible. Best friends are what you need most."

People say best friends are hard to find -- that's because the best is already mine!

A best friend is better than any boyfriend. A best friend may not kiss you or hold you through the night, but they will hold your hand through tough times. They cause tears only through giggles, and they will never judge you on how you look with your makeup off. They may not give you flowers on Valentine's Day but they will give you chocolate once a month. And the best thing about them is that no matter how many times you fight and no matter how loud you may yell, you always know in the end they're still going to love you, and that nothing you could ever say, or scream, could change that.

“Are we going to be friends forever?” Asked Piglet. “Even longer,” Pooh answered.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies,but the silence of our friends.

Modesty matters.

(i nicked this from Bex)

Modesty matters.

This fact has been forgotten by our ungodly society, and even (it seems) by many of our churches. Ok, you’re thinking, we get a talk on this every so often at YP, and they just drone on about how mini-skirts and low-rise jeans cause lust. Whatever. For a long time my attitude was similar to that. My parents were (are) quite strict about clothes, so I never got into mini-skirts etc, but in my heart I didn’t really believe a) modesty was important; and b) that dressing like everyone else really made guys struggle with lust. The way we Christian girls dress does affect the way the Christian guys we know think of us. If we dress in an overtly sexual manner, then how can we expect guys to think of us as sisters in Christ? In 1 Timothy 5:2 guys are commanded to “treat younger women as sisters, with absolute purity”. Absolute purity does not include having lustful thoughts every time you go to church. But, people say, everyone else dresses that way so guys must be used to it, therefore it won’t be a problem. Wrong. It is a problem. The fact that everyone around us dresses immodestly only means that we have even more reason to dress modestly. Even if Christian guys have to struggle with lust at school and (maybe) work, they should at least not have to when they are around us. You’d be surprised how many things you never thought would be a problem can cause lust. Check out The Modesty Survey on www.therebelution.com for a detailed look at just what clothes boys struggle with. It takes a while to look through it all, but it is definitely worth the effort. Modesty is important. In 1 Timothy 2:9, Paul says “I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety”. I’m not advocating all going back to Victorian style clothes. I’m just saying that this is an issue we should all take seriously. Shannon Harris (wife of Joshua Harris, author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye) says, “There is a difference between dressing attractively and dressing to attract”. She’s right, there really is. It is possible to dress in a modest way and still look attractive. In fact, you’ll look more attractive to serious Christian men, who will appreciate the effort you are making on their behalf. Do you really want the guys you know to think of you only as a sexual object? If you dress immodestly, they will struggle to think of you any other way. If you’ve never thought about this issue before, then I would challenge you to do so now. Ask you Dad, or brother, or a Christian guy you know well, to honestly evaluate the way you dress. You might be surprised by what they say! Finally, this is primarily a heart issue. The way we dress is important, but our attitude has to be right as well. Joshua Harris says, “The first way you should view a Christian guy is as a brother”. If we have an impure attitude to the guys we know, then the way we dress will be wrong. Be a sister to the men in your life. Dress modestly, as a child of God. But remember, this is really a question of attitude. Dressing modestly doesn’t make you a better person. If your heart is right on this issue, then the way you dress will follow.

These last few days something has happened, and altho it has been a painful experience God has reminded me of 4 things...

1 He is unchangeable and will always be the same.
2 My sinfulness and dependence on the 'flesh' as it were, sometimes i can just have complete blind faith some friends...thats coz i'm spoilt by having 2 AMAZING friends who have NEVER let me down yet :)
3 Peoples failings... they can't be perfect sometimes....
4 God is the only person that i can absolutely trust and he will never let me down despite all the things that i have done.

1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
3. His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

...the prayer of the righteous is powerful...

Why pray? Because nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer, except that which lies outside the will of God. You'll never know how many people have been strengthened because you asked God to encourage them. Or healed because you stood with them in faith. Or how many spiritual runaways have come home because you prayed for their souls? None of us will ever know the true results of our prayers this side of heaven, but we know this: God's kingdom on earth is established by those who pray.Through prayer we are invited into a relationship with God - a relationship that involves both talking and listening. Prayer is 'talking with God about what we are doing together' as Dallas Willard puts it. In addition to all the other work that gets done through prayer, the greatest work of all is the knitting together of our hearts with the heart of God. Many a person on their deathbed has regretted their obsession with work, money pleasure, and power. But have you ever heard of anyone who regretted spending too much time in prayer? No. Where there is much prayer, there's much love,
G.Ashton Oldham says 'Prayer does not consist in battering the walls of heaven for personal benefit or the success of out plans. Rather, it is the committing of ourselves to carrying out God's purposes. It is a telephone call to headquarters for orders. It's not bending God's will to our, but our will to His. In prayer we tap spiritual reservoirs of spiritual power whereby God can find fuller entrance into the hearts of men'. Why pray? That's why

I was thinking today that you probably don't know what Not Home Yet means. So i will tell you. This story was told to me by Dan, i don't know if its true or not, i presume so. Here we go...

There was a couple who had been missionaries in Africa for 40 years, and were finally coming back to America. On the ship they were travelling on was the president of America who had been for a holiday in Africa. When the ship came to port crowds and crowds came to see the president. When the couple were finally allowed to get off the ship, the port was abandoned, it was raining and there was no one to greet them. The man turned to his wife and said to her, " How is it that the president goes shooting in Africa for 2 weeks and when he comes home loads of people come to see him, and we have been working hard for the LORD for 40 years and when we come home no one greets us?" His wife merely replied, "pray about it" (as all good christian wives should :P) the next day he came to his wife and said," God has given me the answer...we aren't home yet!!!

guys (or whoever reads my blog) every time you visit my blog i want my name to remind you that we as Christians aren't home yet! how often do we forget this and get comfortable here? we need to be constantly reminded that we are Christs and therefore this is NOT our home. live as Christ would have and remember where our home is!!! in the glory :)
Hey guys sorry i haven't blogged for ages, i didn't have anything to blog about and then i forgot my username :$ but i will be blogging soon, but i can't now as i have my music theory grade 5 exam in 5 hours :S
